What it is and how it is treated

To avoid the benign parotid tumors,  to develop into malignant with time take care of their immediate removal.

They are treated with surgery which is of the most difficult to man why plexuses of nerves pass through the salivary glands which they should not be touched!

During the operation the nerves are located by electrostimulation that pass through the area so not to be injured because that will have major effects on facial function and appearance.

The Salivary Gland Tumors are rare and account for less than 6% of head and neck tumors. They are the most heterogeneous group of tumors and represent a diagnostic challenge due to their rarity and variety.

About the 70% of salivary gland tumors involve the parotid gland. The causes of these tumors are not well understood. A clear risk factor is radiation exposure.
