What is laryngitis:

Laryngitis is the inflammation of the larynx in the context of a viral or bacterial infection.

It can also be caused by:

  • Cold or flu
  • Acid reflux from the stomach (gastroesophageal reflux)
  • Excessive strain on the vocal cords
  • Irritation from allergy or smoke inhalation

The inflammation causes the voice to become rough and hoarse.

Laryngitis can be:

  • acute or and
  • Long Lasting

In most cases, it appears suddenly and subsides within two weeks.

Diagnosis:

The diagnosis is made by the method of laryngoscopy.

Cure

Vocal rest and antibiotics.
